Sariska fine after York defeat

Sariska has returned to Michael Bell's Newmarket yard none the worse for her defeat in the Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday.

The dual Oaks winner had to give second best to John Gosden's Dar Re Mi, but it later transpired Sariska had come into season.

"Everything is fine with her, but I think that being in season had a detrimental effect," said Bell.

"However, at the same time one must give credit to the winner, who is a high-class horse in her own right.

"Being in season must have affected her to some degree and bearing in mind she only lost by three-quarters of a length it would be a surprise if that hadn't had some effect.

"She always needs a blind to go in the stalls but I've never seen her kick out before, that is so out of character for her.

"As soon as the stalls handler put the rope around her she went to kick him - that is not in her nature.

"The main thing is she lives to fight another day."
