Sariska on course for Curragh

Investec Oaks heroine Sariska is reported to be firmly on course for a tilt at the Irish equivalent at the Curragh next month.

The daughter of Pivotal followed up her victory in the Musidora Stakes at York with a narrow defeat of Midday at Epsom at the start of this month, and a bid for more Classic glory is now firmly on the cards.

"She's all set for the Irish Oaks and everything has gone fine since the race," said trainer Michael Bell.

"She is being brought along with a view to going to Ireland."

Henry Cecil's Midday could reoppose with connections currently considering whether to pay the 50,000 euro supplementary fee.

"It's possible she could run in the Irish Oaks but we'll just see. She'd have to be supplemented and it's up to the Prince (Khalid Abdullah, owner) to say go or no go," Cecil told At The Races.

"In the Oaks our idea was to commit coming into the straight but we were behind two horses going back and they came on top of us.

"We really wanted to be going for home then but take nothing away from the winner. We were only beaten a head but maybe we would have been a bit closer with a clear run.

"The winner of the Oaks is a big filly and maybe she will improve more than we do but we'll have to see."
