    2.15 Curragh - Go Athletico

Trainer Ado McGuinness has won two of the last three runnings of the 5f handicap courtesy of Laugh A Minute, and the classy GO ATHLETICO can get back to winning ways here under Adam Caffrey.

Even though this gelding is a seven-year-old, this will be just his second career start in handicap company as he has mostly plied his trade in Group-race company.

The eight-time winner last won a Group 3 here over 6f in September 2023 when seeing off the reopposing Big Gossey and he handles soft ground very well. He wasn't beaten far here 13 days ago when short of room at a crucial stage and his mark is fair.

    4.00 Curragh - Camille Pissarro

CAMILLE PISSARRO must carry a penalty for winning the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp over 7f when last seen in October but the three-year-old will more than likely have matured since and will take all the beating in the Listed Gladness Stakes.

The son of Wootton Bassett finished runner-up twice in Group 3 company at this course last year but the step up to this trip brought about big improvement when last seen, so it's no surprise that he holds a 2,000 Guineas entry for Newmarket.

Whether he will handle genuine soft ground remains to be seen but he is the pick of Ryan Moore of the Aidan O'Brien-trained pair. This is a competitive race of its kind with the classy British raider Poet Master taking part, but the selection gets plenty of weight from him.

    4.35 Curragh - Red Scarlet

Our final selection of the day comes in the 1m2f maiden and given those with form in the book are only rated in the mid-70s, it would be no surprise to see a newcomer win this. Sound Of Lightning's profile looks particularly interesting.

Nonetheless, RED SCARLET showed enough last year to be considered here. Rated 76, Ray Cody's Waldgeist filly ran well in maidens last year before a good sixth in the auction series final at Naas over 7f in October.

Just in front of her on that occasion was Sigh No More from the Joseph O'Brien camp, who went on to land a Group 3 at Longchamp just six days later, while the runner-up Bodhi Bear also won a 6f Navan maiden just 10 days later.

Again, Red Scarlet will have to prove her effectiveness on softer ground but if some of the newcomers aren't up to the task on their debuts, she could be the one to take advantage with pretty solid form in the book.
