Second inspection at Sandown Officials at Sandown are very optimistic this afternoon's high-profile fixture will go ahead after announcing a second morning inspection for 10am. Friday's card at the Esher venue went ahead as planned, but with freezing temperatures forecast overnight a precautionary inspection was called for 8am. Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper reported the deployed frost covers to have done their job, but with temperatures still below zero, he will check again later in the morning before giving the seven-race fixture - featuring the Betfair Tingle Creek - the green light. He said: "We're currently the coldest we've been all night at minus 1C, but I'd be very optimistic we'll be fine. "Temperatures are still dropping, but it did not get as cold as some forecasts were suggesting and we're very hopeful at this stage. "We'll leave the covers in place for as long as possible, but with a midday start, we'll have to start lifting them at 9am at the latest." Meanwhile today's jump card at Chepstow goes ahead after an 8am inspection but the all-weather meeting this evening at Wolverhampton is subject to an 11am precautionary inspection due to the threat of snow. Between two and three inches fell at Dunstall Park on Friday evening and clerk of the course Fergus Cameron felt it prudent to call a mid-morning check. He said: "We certainly weren't expecting to get as much snow as we did last night. "I must highlight it is a precautionary inspection. We did a trial run yesterday and we were able to create a racing surface. "The track is raceable underneath, so it's a matter of clearing of snow. We don't anticipate any problems, but we felt it was important to keep people informed."
