Roscommon’s juvenile course-regular Check This Out (5/2) registered a second success at the Connaught track today but pulled up lame having won the Irish EBF Auction Series Race for trainer Noel Meade and jockey Colin Keane.

A course runner-up on his May debut, the son of Ten Sovereigns also scored at the venue on July 1 and today, on his third career start, held off the strong challenge of Giovanni Giorgio to score by an all-out nose.

Regarding the Anthony O'Gorman-owned £17,000 yearling-purchase, Meade revealed “Colin said he thought he was lame pulling up, so hopefully he’s alright. We’ll have to go and have a look at him. Hopefully he’s okay.

“He was a bit fresh today more than anything and it might just have told on him a little bit at the end. but he got home and that’s the main thing.

“The race was kind of made up for him and it’s great to have those races for horses that cost a little less money. He’s run three times here and won twice, so he’s a nice little horse and has done well. The second (Giovanni Giorgio) was obviously well fancied and they both pulled a long way clear of the third.”
