Former professional rider, jockey coach and lead analyst, Paddy Flood, picks out three interesting rides to analyse on our brand new weekly show, The Jockey Angle, in association with William Hill.

Below he highlights an Archie Watson-trained filly who was unlucky in running at Nottingham last week over 5 furlongs.

Flood, who has previous experience riding on the Flat, explains why he felt she deserved to win: “I've picked an interesting horse here: Cosmic Mystery, running in the Wathnan Racing colours.

“Paul Mulrennan was riding this two-year-old filly at Nottingham over five furlongs.

“I thought this filly was home and hosed, but she got caught late.

“In my opinion, Paul probably just went for home a little too soon. She committed about half a furlong out, and he went for the whip a furlong from home.

“I think, if Paul had his time again, he would have waited a little longer before asking for everything, and I believe she would have won the race.

If you go onto Irish Racing and watch the replays, you'll see her last two runs. She did everything right at Nottingham, breaking sharply from the stalls and travelling well.

“I just think she overcommitted a little too early, got a bit lonely in front, and wandered slightly. She's one for the tracker and definitely worth keeping an eye on going forward."

Video replays are now available to view on irishracing.com from all Irish racecourses, along with a selection of premier British tracks.
