Sonny Carey will be hoping to make it two winners in two days at Downpatrick this weekend as High Notions bids to defy topweight in the Cab Plant Handicap Hurdle this afternoon.

The Affinisea mare won a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last autumn and should appreciate this step up in trip after staying on into third at Kilbeggan last month.

“Hopefully, yes (enjoy the longer trip in Downpatrick); she won her maiden over 2m4f and was third in a 2m2f maiden hurdle (at Ballinrobe),” said Carey after saddling Brosna Queen to win at Downpatrick yesterday.

"Hopefully she runs well. She seems to be in good nick and seems to be coming back to form.

"He (Alan O'Sullivan) got on great with her the last day, so hopefully it will work again.”

O’Sullivan could partner a double on the card as the Emmet Mullins-trained Churchfield Annie holds obvious claims in the bumper (5.05).

The first on a seven-race card at the northern venue gets underway at 1.50pm. The going remains good following selective watering and the forecast is for a dry and overcast day.
