Sheehan Maps Plan For Ben Hurricane Ben is likely to return to action in the PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park next month. The James Sheehan-trained eight-year-old impressed when making all in the Grade B BoyleSports Novice Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse over the Easter weekend, before finishing fourth when carrying top-weight on his most recent outing at the Punchestown Festival in May. A planned appearance in the Galway Plate was shelved due to injury, but he is on the comeback trail. "The plan was to run in the Galway Plate but he had a slight setback in early June. It was nothing too serious and he has been back riding out two weeks," said the Co Cork-based trainer. "The plan now is to either go for the Champion Chase at Gowran (September 30), or the Munster National at Limerick. At the moment it's more than likely he'll go for the race at Gowran. "He is rated 145 so our options are limited. We'd be thinking of a trip to England in time as well. He won't be ready in time for Listowel. "I expect him to improve again, he is after getting real strong on himself. He'll have to improve or else he is kind of in no man's land. "The Topham in Aintree is a long term option. He jumps real well. He put in a display of jumping at Fairyhouse and Punchestown."
