Shumaal To Tackle Irish Derby

Bahar Shumaal is set to be supplemented for the Budweiser Irish Derby after pleasing connections on the gallops today.

The son of Dubai Millennium did not see a racecourse until last month but has already shown bundles of ability.

After being short-headed on his debut, he quickly made amends with a fluent success at Sandown and is set to fly high in future.

'I shall be discussing his races with (owner) Saeed Manana but all being well he´ll go for the Irish Derby,' said trainer Clive Brittain.

'He worked very well today. He has shown further improvement and he may not need another race in the interim so we are thinking of going that way.'

Bahar Shumaal holds an entry in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot at York next Friday.

Supplementary entry date for the Irish Derby is on June 21 and costs ?95,000.

The race itself is on June 26.
