Signs Good For Trabolgan

Trabolgan is making steady progress as connections eye a return to action next season for the 2005 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup winner.

The nine-year-old, trained by Nicky Henderson, has been sidelined with a tendon injury since carrying top weight to victory in Newbury's prestigious handicap chase.

'He's fine. He's in good order and being ridden out every day,' said Michael Meagher, racing manager to owner Trevor Hemmings.

'He's just doing light work, walking and trotting, but his leg injury took a bit longer to heal than we expected.

'By the time we were ready to ride him this season we wouldn't have had time to get him ready for the races so we decided to give him the season off.'

Regarding a potential clash with last week's Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Kauto Star, Meagher told At The Races: 'It will be very interesting next year if there is Star De Mohaison, Kicking King, Trabolgan and War Of Attrition all back - it would be some race.'
