Silent Witness withdraws from Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint

Silent Witness has officially withdrawn from the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint.

Described as 'dull and inappetant,' Silent Witness was withdrawn from last month´s Cathay Pacific International Sprint Trial on veterinary advice and participation in this Sunday´s HK$10m event would have hinged on passing an Official Veterinary Examination.

However, trainer Tony Cruz declined to have Silent Witness examined this morning after an all-weather workout that was deemed less than satisfactory and subsequently withdrew the horse from the race after meeting with owners Mr & Mrs Archie and Betty da Silva and jockey Felix Coetzee.

The winner of this race in 2003 and 2004 and unbeaten in 18 runs up to 1400m, Silent Witness has been a wonderful ambassador for Hong Kong racing in recent seasons and the Club and all of his fans hope that he can soon return to the form that made him such an international star.

Thirteen runners will now line up for the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint on December 11.
