Simple Verse back on Doncaster trail Last year's St Leger winner Simple Verse is the star name among 19 entries for the DFS Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster on Thursday. Ralph Beckett's filly has yet to get her head in front this season and returns to the scene of her controversial Classic success in which she lost the race in the stewards' room but was given it back on appeal. Beckett also has Alyssa, winner of her last three races, and York Silver Cup scorer Pamona. Sir Michael Stoute's progressive filly Abingdon, winner of the Galtres Stakes at York last month, is an interesting entry along with the John Gosden-trained California, who took the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Aidan O'Brien has put in Yorkshire Oaks fourth Pretty Perfect, while his son Joseph has Arya Tara, who was third in the Irish St Leger Trial on her latest start. A third Irish possible is the John Kiely-trained Toe The Line. Kilmah, winner of the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood last weekend, could step up both in distance and company for the Clugston Construction May Hill Stakes. The Mark Johnston-trained filly, who was rewarded for several creditable efforts during the summer when taking the Group Three over seven furlongs, is among 13 possibles for the mile Group Two on Town Moor. Aidan O'Brien has yet to saddle the winner of this race but could bid to put that right with Butterflies. The daughter of Galileo has won over the distance and was third to Sea Of Grace and Eziyra in the Flame Of Tara Stakes at the Curragh on her latest start. Joseph O'Brien is represented by Intricately, who was a fine third to Rhododendron in the Debutante Stakes last time out. Grecian Light, who underperformed when last of seven to Kilmah at Goodwood, has been given an entry by Charlie Appleby. The third and fourth that day, James Tate's Urban Fox and the Ralph Beckett-trained Rich Legacy, are among others in the mix.
