Sky Watch a nice three-year-old prospect for O'Callaghan The Jamie Powell-ridden Sky Watch (5/1) was a decisive winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden over a mile at Dundalk. First home in a barrier trial at Naas in May shortly before finishing sixth on her debut at the Curragh, the Starman filly (second winner for the sire on the card after Final Melody in the nursery) was third in a Galway maiden last month. Here, she raced in second and headed front-running 2/5 favourite Guardian Of Realm a furlong out before lengthening clear to beat that rival by two and three-quarter lengths. Michael O'Callaghan, who trains the £80,000 breeze-up purchase for the Star Watch Partnership, reported: "She's a filly I like a lot, she's probably the best filly I've had all year. "I've had to be patient with her. She was sick after the first day at the Curragh in what has turned out to be a very, very good maiden. She needed a break after that. "She was only 75 per cent going to Galway and it was a lovely run. I was thinking of putting her away after that and, she was just so well after it, I said we would come here and try and get her maiden out of the way. "She is a filly for a trial in the spring. She is well above average. "She has talent and is naturally quick enough for seven (furlongs). She just has that bit of class and she saw it out well. "She is still a filly that is quite immature physically and she will do well over the winter. She will go on her holidays now and will be ready for a trial in the spring. "The fact that she ran well in Galway on proper soft ground, spring ground won't be any problem. "Possibly (better on better ground), she is still the unfinished article."
