Slattery has Naas target for Lupie Andy Slattery is looking forward to getting Lupie back on track as the juvenile continues to seek a first victory. The son of Lope De Vega has been placed on each of his three starts, most recently finishing second to Royal Ascot contender The Great War at Tipperary last month. The Great War has now won twice for Aidan O'Brien and Slattery believes he was unlucky to run into such a well-regarded colt. He said: "Lupie was beaten by The Great War at Tipperary, but The Great War looks exceptional and almost is a Guineas horse already, even as a two year old. It was just my luck to run into him! "My fella wasn't at a sale so I can't run him in auction maidens, but there's a winners' race at Naas next week and we'll keep going. He worked well on Monday but I think he might do better over six furlongs. "He's the first foal out of his dam and Thomas (Hassett, owner) bred him himself and also has a half-brother by Bushranger at home. He's by Lope De Vega, who I think is a very good sire."
