Andy Slattery is eyeing the Group 2 Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes at Headquarters next month for in-foal Easy.

On her latest start, she stepped up to seven furlongs in Leopardstown but could make no impression on the winner in second in the closing stages.

The trainer said: “We’ll look at the Group 2 over six for her now, I think there is one at the Curragh. Wherever we get soft ground with her.

“She’s in foal to Mehmas and we have until mid-August with her.

“She ran a cracker. I don’t think she saw out the trip in Leopardstown and she was giving the winner (Copacabana Sands) 10lb as well.

“She’s not the easiest to train, it was only the sixth run of her life.

“In my mind she probably would have been a Group 1 filly, or a 120 filly by now, if she had a clear run of things. She’s not easy, even though she got the name Easy!”

Easy won at Listed level over six furlongs in Cork last season.
