The Jessica Harrington-trained Slaudeen got on top late on in a cracking finish to the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Race at Navan.

Ballydoyle filly Cactus was prominent throughout under first time rider Freya Frain and had a couple of lengths advantage passing the two pole.

She was strongly pressed in the closing stages and Slaudeen edged the verdict close home for a neck victory under Shane Foley.

Assistant trainer Kate Harrington said: "He did (keep finding up the hill) and he's a horse that will ideally go back up to seven (furlongs) in time.

"He hasn't been doing things right in his races, so we just dropped him back to six. He has been gelded and he did everything right today. Shane said he won snug enough in the end, so it is great to see him do that. There's not even a blow out of him there.

"We'll just see what happens with him now, he's a nice horse and we will chat to the team and see where we go next with him."
