< Whatsforuwontgobyu landed some decent bets when impressively opening his account in the Sligo GAA Race Day 18th August Maiden Hurdle.

The Mark Walsh-ridden five-year-old was sent of the 11-10 favourite having shown his first real signs of ability when fourth at Down Royal recently and he duly built on that promise with a comfortable success here, jumping well in the main before taking over after the last and scampering six and a half lengths clear.

Walsh completed quickfire double when Mollyanna (2-1) landed the subsequent race of the night, the Duke And Duchess Of Cornwall Mares Maiden Hurdle, a fine jump at the last helping her secure a length and three quarter success.

The in-form rider was out of the luck in the Follow Sligo Races On Facebook Rated Novice Hurdle, however, as his mount I Knew Well could only manage third behind the progressive Credo Star

Peter Fahey's mare had to watch on in the early exchanges as strong stayer Speed Demon tried to run his rivals ragged from the front but last month's Wexford winner began to make strong headway as they turned in for home and although the runner-up tried hard, he was always fighting a losing battle on the run-in and eventually went down by four and three quarter lengths.

The 11-2 winner was making it two wins from two starts over hurdles and looks a mare to keep on the right side of this summer.

There was a pulsating finish to the Ellen's Pub Maugherow Handicap Hurdle as Some Drama (12-1) went one better than last month's runner-up finish at Fairyhouse.

Any number were in with a chance coming to the last but it was the eight-year-old who found most for pressure, just getting up to deny Personal Shopper by a head.< Mells Theater (5-1) was another whose late challenge was rewarded with victory as he picked up Definite Earl close from home to take the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle by two lengths.
