Sligo double moves Keane back on top Colin Keane moved ahead of Dylan Browne McMonagle at the top of this season’s title today, having completed an opening-races Sligo double on Lady Lunette (9/1) in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Connacht Oaks Fillies & Mares Handicap. Keane’s new Juddmonte Farms-commitments and a recent suspension had resulted in the six-times champion surrendering his title-lead but having won today’s opener on Antoine De Paris, doubled up on Lady Lunette to move him to 56 winners this term. Held up in rear, Keane produced the mare to lead over a furlong out, with the pair scoring by 2.5 lengths from Thatwilldoso. Winning trainer Ray Cody commented “she was the class filly in the race giving away lumps of weight and when things fall her way, she’s very good. A small field probably helped today and the last day in Leopardstown, she hated the firm ground. I thought on her run in Down Royal she would take a lot of beating. “The man on top is a genius and gave her a super ride. “The owner (Karen Curtin) would like to get her some black type and if things fell her way in a small field, she’s well capable of getting it.” Quotes from Alan Magee
