Smoke Them Out gets his ground in Bellewstown Smoke Them Out relished the rain-softened ground in Bellewstown when posting a three-quarters of a length victory in the Gannon City Recovery & Recycling Handicap over the extended five-furlongs. Sadhbh Tormey raced him close to the pace, and then went on a furlong and a half down. The 4/1 shot was resolute in the final furlong in seeing off 15/8 favourite Nouvel Espoir by three-parts of a length. Tom McCourt said: "He loved that ground. "You'd say he shouldn't run well up here but, even on good ground, he had been running well. He would be a bit outpaced and run on from the road home. "On that ground, I said, 'jump out to go hard and if anything wants to take it off you, fine'. "All his wins have been with plenty of dig in the ground. "He's in on Sunday in the Curragh and if the ground is soft, we will probably have to take our chance. He has won twice there."
