'So, one to go!' - Meade nears 3,000 winners Seven-time Champion National Hunt Trainer Noel Meade registered his 2,999th career success with 50/1 chance Wynette today, as the debutante landed Navan’s Kilberry Fillies & Mares Maiden. The Coulsty-sired, Ballyheashall Stud bred-and-owned three-year-old filly was held up in rear-division by Adam Caffrey for much of the race, before finishing powerfully to score a last-gasp short-head win, from 73-rated Nautic Star (6/4f). Meade, whose ‘Tu Va Stables’ is named after his first winner at Wexford in August 1971, has combined Flat and jump racing in recent years. Today, Meade initially reported “Wynette is a nice filly and I thought she would want better ground, somewhere like Dundalk. You could see her in Dundalk”, before revealing “that is my 2,999th winner so, one to go!" Meade’s next runners are both Acanto and Chestnut Palace in the 5.04pm race at Navan.
