Sole Power is on course to contest the five-furlong betfred.com Temple Stakes on Haydock on Saturday.

Edward Lynam's high-class speedster, winner of the Al Quoz Sprint on his latest start at Meydan in March, has a terrific record in the Group Two event having lifted the prize in 2011 as well finishing second in 2012 and fourth two years ago.

The eight-year-old is one of three Irish possibles along with Evanna McCutcheon's grand campaigner Maarek and Great Minds from Tommy Stack's stable.

Two others past winners are set to line up with Kingsgate Native and Hot Streak among 16 possibles at this stage.

Robert Cowell's Kingsgate Native lifted the prize in both 2010 and 2013 while the Kevin Ryan-trained Hot Streak landed the spoils 12 months ago.

The David O'Meara-trained G Force, winner of the Group One Betfred Sprint Cup at the Merseyside track in September, is another star standing his ground.

Pearl Secret, runner-up last year, could bid to go one better for David Barron, who also has Robot Boy in contention.

The Cowell-trained Goldream could bid to supplement his victory in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket where he had Justice Day and Kingsgate Native in second and third places respectively.

The list is completed by Danzeno, Jack Dexter, Godolphin's prolific all-weather scorer Pretend, Steps, Take Cover and Wind Fire, of whom trainer David Brown is hoping for a solid showing following her reappearance sixth at Newmarket.

Brown said: "She's going there and she's been working well. I think she will be better suited by Haydock than Newmarket.

"She did not handle the dip and I'm sure this course will be better for her."
