Some welcome news for Popham Ian Popham has received some welcome good news for a change after finding out his broken pelvis may not require an operation. The promising conditional jockey was unshipped from the Martin Keighley-trained Oyster Hill on the way to the start for the bumper at Plumpton on Monday and x-rays revealed he had broken his pelvis for a second time in just over 12 months. Having initially been told he required further surgery, Keighley has now been informed that he may not going under the knife. "He's very stabilised at the moment and it looks like they might not operate which is obviously very good news. He deserves a bit of a break," said Keighley. "Hopefully they are going to try to get him on his feet later today and get him home as soon as they can. "There are far less complications this time. Last year there were internal problems but this time there are none. "We don't have a timescale yet but obviously it won't be anywhere near as long as the last time. It's looking good."
