Sonnyboyliston could make trip to Dubai for new trainer Byrnes

Charles Byrnes could target the Dubai Gold Cup with new recruit Sonnyboyliston.

The Ballingarry handler took over the training of the 2021 Irish St Leger winner before Christmas and has told Dubai based website whatsthecraicdubeye.com that a trip to the middle east could be on the cards.

Sonnyboyliston, who also won the Ebor at York prior to his Leger victory, hasn't been seen in action since finishing second in a valuable handicap in Saudi Arabia last February.

“It's very exciting to get him with his profile, a Leger and Ebor winner. We're very fortunate to get him,” said Byrnes.

“Dubai would be a possibility, whether it comes too early or not (we'll have to see).

“We also have his half-sister. She'll be starting off early in the Flat season and she's very exciting too. Hopefully she'll go the right way.”
