Sonoran up and running for Lyons team Sonoran put in a sparkling debut to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden in Tipperary with the front pair well clear of the remainder. The son of Arizona made steady headway for Colin Keane approaching the home bend and grabbed the initiative over a furlong out. At that stage, Pete's Dream held every chance in a close second, however, the leader stayed on strongly in the closing stages to open up by three and three-quarter lengths at 10/1 for trainer Ger Lyons. Runner-up Pete's Dream was the 3/1 favourite and was eight lengths clear of Chipsrdown (125/1). Assistant trainer Shane Lyons said: "We took our time with him as he was immature as a two-year-old, but has really filled into himself. He is having a look around even now (in the winner's enclosure), so is going to improve an awful lot. "It wasn't a great-ish contest, but that's not his fault and Colin said he will get further and can only improve. We'll go home and make a plan." "We had a couple of horses by Arizona including William F Browne, who won a couple of races for us." Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
