Sparkling debut for Esloob Hamdan Al Maktoum`s two-year-olds always warrant respect at Newmarket and his newcomer Esloob put up a pleasing first appearance in the Rose Cottage Maiden Fillies` Stakes at the course today. In a thrilling finish to the seven furlongs test, she stuck her neck out where it mattered, just getting the better of Snowfire and Alasha by a head and the same. But while she may not have had much in hand, her performance delighted her partner Richard Hills who believes she will stay much further. Sheikh Hamdan`s racing manager Angus Gold was happy with the outcome too and said of the Marcus Tregoning-trained juvenile: 'She has always pleased at home and is a promising filly. She wintered in Dubai and they liked her very much. 'She is very lazy and always has been at home, but that is a nice fault to have and I hope she will stay a fair bit further. 'We will obviously have to consider the Fillies` Mile (Group One 29 September) at Ascot or that sort of race.'-PA
