The Gordon Elliott trained Spinningayarn made virtually all the running under Jack Kennedy to run out a game winner of the Matchbook Betting Exchange Rated Novice Hurdle at Punchestown.

Off the mark over flights at Fairyhouse earlier this month, the Robcour owned gelding showed a real determined attitude in fending off all comers to double up.

Sent off 2/1 (from 9/2), the Order Of St George gelding led before the first flight and, made the rest.

Strongly pressed entering the straight, Spinningayarn found plenty for pressure, keeping on well to win by six-and-a-half lengths from Parnell Street

Jack Kennedy said: “He looks to be going in the right direction. It was fairly straight forward today — he jumped and has done it well.

“He’ll be suited by going further and also getting a lead would probably help him as well. Hopefully there is more to come from him.

“I got a handy lead. He handled the ground without loving it but he’s a good honest horse and went through it.”
