Spring campaign the main aim for Frankie John Frankie John has brought his form to a new level this year since going chasing. He justified strong market support on his debut over fences, looking as if a return to further would help him realise his full potential. The grey six-year-old subsequently won over two miles and four furlongs in a Grade 3 novice chase at Gowran, accounting for impressive Galway Beginners' winner Vicar Street by three-quarters of a length. Shadow Paddy, who had already been proven at graded level was a further two and a half lengths back in fourth. Denis Hogan commented on future targets for his stable star: "At the end of the month there's a novice chase in Cork maybe. He has an entry in Cheltenham next weekend, but we'll see what the ground and the races are like. "He's an exciting novice chaser and we'll see whether we go novice handicaps or we go in some of the higher graded races. "If he keeps progressing, hopefully he will get us to some of the festivals in the spring. "We'll probably miss the heavy ground in December/January because he likes nice ground. We'll probably have another run and we might even park him over Christmas for a spring campaign." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
