Spring Dance brings up Dundalk double for Foley Successful in the opening race on the card, jockey Shane Foley completed a double when partnering odds-on favourite Spring Dance to win the Border Boutique Hire Fillies Maiden at Dundalk. Third on her racecourse debut at Gowran Park in April, the Jessica Harrington trained filly was beaten less than a length when fourth at Down Royal last time. In the absence of any real support for her rivals, the daughter of Dubawi was backed into 8/13f for this race. Outsider Talk Show Host built up a sizeable lead at halfway. Foley was content to track the chasers, sitting fifth overall. Qamari got to the leader and took over briefly over a furlong out but was soon passed by the market leader, who kept on well to win by three lengths from the fast finishing Auburn Avenue. Assistant trainer Kate Harrington said: "She hasn't been beaten all that far in both her runs. "She's a filly that Mr Zhang spotted at Deauville Sales last year and her dam is a half-sister to a Group 1 winner. To get a winning bracket with her is job done. As far as today goes, that was job number one. "We will have a chat to the team, but she could be covered southern hemisphere time as her pedigree is a lot of Australian. "She seemed to like the all-weather surface, so we might give her one crack at a four-year-olds and upwards black-type somewhere. We will see what our options are and what the team want to do. "Plenty of positives (from first two runs) - she had never run for her previous owners and she came to us and we gave her a break. She strengthened up no end, she was just a big frame of a filly. We have done a lot of dressage and Flat work with her and she has really covered up the top half of her frame. "It is great to get the winning bracket as it is all valuable to her down the line."
