Sprint Mission For Damson

Damson is to revert to sprinting in a bid to redeem her reputation following two failed attempts at the top level over a mile this season.

The Entrepreneur filly won her first four starts as a juvenile last term, culminating in the Group One Phoenix Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh last August, but has been out of luck since then.

Now she returns to the same course and distance on Sunday for the Group Three Patrick O´Leary Phoenix Sprint Stakes, where she will be equipped with blinkers for the first time.

'She´ll run in the Curragh next Sunday over six furlongs in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes,' said trainer David Wachman.

'She´ll wear blinkers and hopefully they will sharpen her up.'

Damson was to have made her seasonal debut in the 1000 Guineas, but was pulled out of the Newmarket Classic a few days before the race after scoping wrong.

She finally reappeared in the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh, but was unplaced and was also down the field in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot at York on her only subsequent outing.
