Sprinter slays Maghull trio Sprinter Sacre (1-7 fav) made mincemeat of his three rivals in the John Smith's Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree. Nicky Henderson's star won the Arkle in fine fashion last month and jumped well in the main here, having avoided Australia Day at the first fence as that rival jumped markedly out to his right. Main rival Toubab (10-1) gave chase turning for home but made a bad mistake of the second-last fence and Paul Nicholls' grey could never get closer than four lengths of the winner at any time. Barry Geraghty, riding the Caroline Mould-owned gelding, could afford to take things easy near the winning line but the distance was still 13 lengths. Australia Day cut out the early running but nearly ran out after the first fence and he jumped right-handed throughout, whilst Kudu Country finished a distant third under James Reveley.
