Last year’s smart juvenile Suzie Songs has returned to form and today was the well-supported (5/1 — 5/2f) winner of Cork’s Listed NFP Irish EBF Platinum Stakes, for trainer Ger Lyons, owners Moyglare Stud Farm and jockey Colin Keane.

Successful on two initial starts before disappointing on her final run of 2025, the keen-going daughter of Starspangledbanner resumed winning ways in a three-runner race at Naas last month and today race prominently and scored comfortably by 1.5 lengths from Spinning Around .

Lyons, who flew in on his own light aircraft, reported “Suzie Songs has been a project. Last year, her only bad race was in the Moyglare but she was running away and doing everything too quick.

“She has grown and while her work hasn’t been showing us that, she is doing things right now. She is only doing what we expect her to do, although we didn’t think we’d ever get her back to this level. We’ll talk to Colin, keep her to seven (furlongs) and I think the ground is important for her.

“They are going lickety-split here today, which plays to her strengths, but we’re slowly getting her back to her best - not that we will ever get her back to where she was.”
