Staples makes it 20 for the season on Cromwell's mare The Gavin Cromwell-trained Dameauscottlestown (11/2 overnight, returned 12/1) was friendless in the betting ahead of Punchestown's Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle but belied the drift in her price with a snug success under Eoin Staples. The Wexford rider was making it 20 winners for the campaign and gave Martin Cooney's daughter of Mastercraftsman a patient steer.  The five-year-old was travelling strongly behind the leaders as they turned for home, and was shaken up on the approach to the final flight which she jumped in second.  A fluent leap there gave her the momentum to head Blue Reed on the run-in and she wasn't hard pressed to beat that rival by three and three-quarter lengths. Cromwell's race planner Troy Cullen commented “I’d say the ground is the key to her. She ran a couple of times on softer ground and that ground today made an awful difference to her, plus coming into handicap company compared to maidens. "Eoin gave her a great ride and is great value for his claim." Additional reporting by Alan Magee
