Stars Will Shine impresses Keane in Down Royal Starman filly Stars Will Shine ran on strongly for a clear-cut success in the Irish EBF Auction Series Fillies Maiden over an extended seven-furlongs at Down Royal. There was plenty of promise in her third place on debut over six furlongs at Cork and she relished the extra yardage today. The 11/8 favourite powered away from her rivals in the final furlong to open up by four and three-quarter lengths for trainer Noel Meade and owner Sabina Kelly. Celestial Siren (4/1) finished second and was half a length in front of Running Point (2/1). Jockey Colin Keane said: "She did things nicely at home before she ran in Cork and Ben (Coen) liked her a lot, she came home well and she caught the eye. "She was good there today. "It was a good spot (Cork) for her to start. You always like to see them coming home over seven (furlongs) and you wouldn't rule out a mile after today. "She was (strong at the line) and she quickened well. The ground was on the easy side which she handles and she handles better ground as well which is good to know. "I think she could progress to that (being a stakes filly), she has the right attitude and she is going the right way. The temperament (of Starman progeny) seems to die for, they are straightforward and they want to please you - that's what she is."
