Starspangled heads July Cup acceptors Starspangledbanner tops 17 six-day acceptors for next Friday's Darley July Cup at Newmarket. Aidan O'Brien's charge is bidding to supplement his Group One win in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and faces a rematch with Society Rock, Kinsale King and Fleeting Spirit who were second, third and fourth at the Berkshire track. Showcasing, a bitter disappointment in the Golden Jubilee, is entered again although Main Aim, second last year, has been taken out by the Juddmonte team. King's Stand hero Equiano could step back up to six furlongs while Nicconi and Alverta are set to represent Australia. Starspangledbanner's trainer Aidan O'Brien could be double-handed with Alfred Nobel while John Gosden, in charge of Showcasing, has also entered Meezan. Former winner Marchand d'Or, Varenar and War Artist are the three French entries while Balthazaar's Gift, Kingsgate Native, Prime Defender and Serious Attitude complete the field.
