Three Irish trained runners lined-up in the Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes on Saturday evening, with Joseph O'Brien's State Of Rest coming out on top.

Successful on debut at Fairyhouse last summer, the son of Starspangledbanner failed to follow-up on his next six starts, finishing fifth to Mac Swiney in the Vertem Futurity Trophy at Doncaster in October.

Third on his return to action in the Celebration Stakes at the Curragh last month, the Teme Valley owned bay was expected to struggle in this Grade 1 contest.

Having raced mainly in sixth under John Velazquez, he came with his run down the outer from the two furlong pole and powered to the front with a furlong left to race, going on to score by a length.

Bolshoi Ballet was sent off favourite under Ryan Moore for Aidan O'Brien, but he couldn't match the winner from the furlong pole and he eventually finished fourth.

Jessica Harrington's Cadillac raced towards the head of affairs under Shane Foley, but soon weakened when ridden from early in the straight.
