Strong Suit could tackle Frankel on his seasonal bow with the pair set to clash in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

The dual Group Two winner has yet to strike gold at the highest level and he may go up against Sir Henry Cecil's unbeaten star on May 19th.

Strong Suit, trained by Richard Hannon, has already been placed in two Group Ones but trailed home last in the Breeders' Cup Mile at Churchill Downs on his final start of 2011.

Connections admit that a Group One victory is the most important objective this term and a drop back to sprinting trips has not been ruled out.

"The main priority with Strong Suit is to win a Group One," the trainer's son and assistant, Richard Hannon junior, told richardhannonracing.tv.

"He has got his Group Twos and needs to aim for the stars now, so we might have a crack at the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

"It has been such a lucky race for us with the likes of Paco Boy and Canford Cliffs both winning, but this year we might have a certain Frankel standing in our way.

"However, we know that Strong Suit has so much speed and it is in the back of our minds to go back sprinting and aim at something like the July Cup at Newmarket.

"He travels so well in his races that you could see him swooping off a fast pace at HQ, but we will keep our options open and see which way the cards fall."
