Summerhill winner Nova Jets into Fontwell Jetnova, a £45,000 purchase by Highflyer Bloodstock on behalf of Alan King at Brightwells Cheltenham Sale in May 2009, makes his first start for Barbury Castle Stables at Fontwell this evening. Described by his former trainer, Philip Dempsey in the wake of a Summerhill success (recent headline makers Imperial Commander and Burton Port scored at the Co. Meath venue too) as: "A decent horse that has had no luck until now," the five-year-old, a five time participant 'between the flags,' will be partnered for his racecourse bow in the Chancelloroftheformchecker.co.uk Pepe Rufino Memorial Maiden Hurdle by Robert 'Choc' Thornton. Jetnova, obviously a good ground lover, went down narrowly to Carribs Leap (a bumper winner and big money purchase recently) at Durrow, fell when in front next time, before eventually getting off the mark almost a year ago to the day. It will be fascinating to see how Jetnova fares in this two and a half miler against rivals such as Calon Crwbin (a seemingly progressive sort), Irish-raider, Savannah, Shakalakaboomboom and Smooth Classic. The latter (Costello's at the time before going to Carl Llewellyn and now with Warren Greatrex) threw a sloppy last fence jump before going under to none other than Tataniano at Belharbour in February 2008. Like Jetnova, Smooth Classic is a son of Luso, he has shown plenty of ability on the track to date and he is worth watching closely in the market and for future reference in today's contest that comes up at 6.10.
