Six-time stakes winner Surrounding could return for another campaign next season at the age of eight.

The Michael Halford-trained mare has proven a wonderful servant for connections and added the Knockaire Stakes to an impressive CV at Leopardstown in October.

She was last seen finishing second at Dundalk last month and Halford has reported that she is currently on a winter break.

The daughter of Lilbourne Lad has won ten races for owner/breeder Evan Newell with the highlight coming when she scored in Group 3 company in the Brownstown Stakes in July 2019.

“She's having a well deserved break at the minute and is doing very well," said Halford.

“We'll probably take her back and bring her on for a while, if she's enjoying and in good form we'll keep going with her.

“If she tells us that she's not then we'll make the call. We're open minded at the moment.

“She's getting on in age but she's not over-raced and has such an enthusiasm for it."
