Tarquinius & Boss among Eider entries The Gordon Elliott trained Thyestes runner-up, Tarquinius and Oliver McKiernan’s Spot The Boss are the two Irish trained entries for the Betfred Eider Chase at Newcastle on Saturday. Won last year by the Maurice Phelan trained Portrait King, the aforementioned duo could bid to bring the valuable pot across the Irish Sea for the second year in-a-row. Master Overseer, who returned to form with victory at Wincanton, heads the 22 entries. The David Pipe-trained 10yo is the top-rated horse on a mark of 147 engaged in the handicap chase over four miles and one furlong. Pipe is also considering Big Occasion and Shaking Hands for this marathon contest. Chris Bealby reports Chac Du Cadran, a winner over three and three-quarter miles at Catterick last time, on course for the stamina test. "This has been the plan since Catterick. I see there are 22 entries and 13 with a lower rating than us," said the Lincolnshire trainer. "We'll have to see if David Pipe runs the top one (Master Overseer) on 147. We could be on a handy weight, 10st 5lb, or something like that." James Ewart's Captain Americo and the Rina Jackson-trained Boris The Blade, third and fourth in the Eider 12 months ago, are in the mix again along with the likes of Cool Operator, Desperate Dex and Our Island.
