Tatateo aided by Michael Kenneally's 7lb claim, reversed recent Leopardstown form with Spinola Bay to take the Goldcrop Rated Novice Hurdle at Cork.

A maiden winner at Tramore in August, the Teofilo gelding had finished only ninth when Gordon Elliott's Spinola Bay won at the Dublin venue but made the most of a significant pull in the weights to gain his second victory of the campaign.

Tatateo (11/4) was ridden in third before the second-last where the front-running Spinola Bay (5/4 fav) made a mistake and was headed by Youneedabitofluck The market leader could give no more on the approach to the last where Tatateo, trained for the Final Reminder Syndicate by Denis Hogan, moved into second. On the run-in, Kenneally's mount found a bit extra and went on to post a three-quarters of a length success from Youneedabitofluck.

That’s my first winner for Denis, second ride," said Kenneally.

“He was brave and honest down to the last and when I needed him, he was there.

“Denis was bullish. He couldn’t make it but I rang him on the way down. He said to ride him good and positive and said he’d finish strong.

“The ground is probably key for him, the better ground.

“He’s a dual-purpose horse and has a future over hurdles.”
