Test for Drive Time

Howard Johnson expects to learn a lot more about Drive Time when the six-year-old lines up for the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday.

The lightly-raced gelding made a successful debut for the English trainer at Doncaster two weeks ago, having won both his starts on the Flat for Jim Bolger in the summer of 2009.

The long delay in making his jumping bow was caused by a leg injury as Johnson explained.

"He won well at Doncaster. He had his problems the day after we paid for him. He had to have a screw in a hind leg," he said.

"We'll see tomorrow if he's good enough to enter for the Festival or whether we should keep him for Aintree."

Backspin also puts his 100% record on the line following a Punchestown bumper success and two novice hurdle wins for Jonjo O'Neill, including the Grade One Challow Hurdle on his latest start.

His rider Tony McCoy believes the JP McManus-owned six-year-old is a very promising type.

"He won the Challow at Newbury last time and we're looking forward to it. He looks a nice horse so far," McCoy told Sky Sports News.
