Testing ground for day one at Galway Testing ground conditions for the first day of the Galway races with the going described as soft (National Hunt) and heavy for the Flat action after a wet Sunday which saw rainfall amounting to 21mm at Ballybrit . The weather is set to remain unsettled today with the possibility of a further 2-5mm (approx) prior to racing which gets under way at 5.10 pm. Tuesday is forecast to be mainly dry with a further band of rain on Tuesday night. The wet weather has resulted in a change in the running order to Wednesday's Tote Galway Plate card. Clerk of the course Lorcan Wyer said: "We're going to tweak the running order for Wednesday, essentially running the Flat racing ahead of the Galway Plate and finishing off with the hurdle races after the Plate."
