It might be only an 80 to 102 event but the Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap Hurdle at Thurles on Thursday is interesting principally due to the participation of recent stylish winners Immediate Response and Clashnabrook.

Immediate Response scored without 'turning a hair' at Clonmel a week ago and he goes tomorrow under a mandatory four pound penalty. He's effectively competing off a mark of 96, but his hike for the Powerstown Park romp was 17Ibs, up to 109. Immediate Response therefore is 13Ib 'well-in' for the Thurles two and three quarter miler.

Clashnabrook got 10Ibs for a good success at Fairyhouse on Saturday. His new mark is 99 but at Thurles he runs off 93, meaning he is 6Ibs 'well-in.'

With regard to Clashnabrook, considering his decent point-to-point form and good pedigree, the 82 rating he has to go chasing with, after a couple of non-descript efforts in that sphere, is certainly noteworthy. (EM)
