Thorne berths Mayflower until spring Trainer Stephen Thorne is looking forward to next year with his promising juvenile filly Mayflower, who won a Leopardstown maiden on debut in July and has now been put away for the year. The Ardad-filly was a 50,000gns breeze-up purchase last May and on her July debut at Leopardstown, scored readily despite having had a slow start, with the runner-up, third and fourth-placed horses scoring subsequently. Thorne, who registered a double at Dundalk yesterday, said "we were toying with the idea of giving her another run up at Dundalk just for experience, but the owners have decided to bring her home and give her a break. She was always going to be a three-year-old type, she's a filly with plenty of size and we’ve had made the Irish Guineas entry for her. "She won very well on debut in Leopardstown, so we are hoping that she might make up into a Guineas Trial filly next spring and then we will see where we are going then. "She is a filly that we are very much looking forward to next year, and we like her a lot." Quotes from Michael Graham
