Three horses to follow at Clonmel on Thursday Clonmel takes centre stage in Ireland on Thursday with an eight-race card that features a mix of Handicaps and Novice races The action kicks off at 12.35 and runs through to the finale at 4.35 and we have provided selections and analysis for three of the races on Thursday’s card. Selections 3.30 Clonmel - Person Of Interest 4.05 Clonmel - Luminous Light 4.35 Clonmel - Banprionsat 3.30 Clonmel - Person Of Interest A total of 13 runners are set to contest this two-mile, three-furlong handicap hurdle and PERSON OF INTEREST stands out as a strong contender despite coming into this as top weight. Some promising maiden form has led to an opening mark of 102 and while he hasn't been able to win off that yet, he has been competitive, especially last time out at Punchestown where he just lacked finishing power. Dropping back to two miles three will certainly help counter that lack of stamina for this race, while the expected soft ground is also likely to be in his favour. 4.05 Clonmel - Luminous Light The 4.05 looks like an equally competitive contest, with 14 runners set to go to post in this two-mile Novice Handicap Chase. A case can be made for many of them, but it's the Anthony McCann-trained LUMINOUS LIGHT that stands out as the pick. He’s one of two for the McCann yard, with this one to be ridden by Sean Flanagan. He ran in a beginners’ chase at Fairyhouse last time, going off at 20/1, and produced a respectable effort, finishing just outside the places in fourth. This was his first run in 132 days, so he should come on for that effort. A mark of 113 looks exploitable, and he appeals in this novice handicap chase. 4.35 Clonmel - Banprionsa The final race on the card is a Beginners' Chase, where 14 runners go to post, and it could very well go the way of Henry De Bromhead with his mare, BANPRIONSA. She made her chase debut at Down Royal a couple of months ago and came very close to winning, but was headed by two rivals very late on, who were battling on either side of her. It was a solid performance that suggests she is capable of winning a race of this calibre and she looks set to improve and go a couple of places better in this race.
