Three tips at Dundalk on Friday Dundalk takes centre stage in Ireland on Friday with a seven-race card that features three maidens and four handicaps. The action kicks off at 4:05 and runs through to the finale at 7:15 at the Co Louth circuit and we have provided selections and analysis for three of the races on Friday’s card. Selections 4.05 Dundalk - Sporting Hero 5.10 Dundalk - Waterford Flow 7.15 Dundalk - Seti 4.05 Dundalk - Sporting Hero The action kicks off with a 13-runner handicap over the minimum 5f trip. It features many familiar names at Dundalk, with seven of the runners having a course win to their name. SPORTING HERO has only had seven runs here but has performed well, winning twice. Both victories came over six furlongs, though he has won over this trip before when racing in Britain. He finished third over this distance last time out. He typically breaks well and races prominently, a style that suits him. It nearly paid off last time, but he was caught late on. A similar approach should see him go close again with his inexperienced rider taking 10lb off in the saddle. 5.10 Dundalk - Waterford Flow A field of 11 go to post in this mile maiden for three-year-olds. Seven of them have run before and have valuable racing experience, but only WATERFORD FLOW has shown anything of note, making this look like a bit of a penalty kick for Joseph O’Brien’s charge. He has run twice, both times at this track, finishing fifth on debut before going off as the 7/4 favourite and placing third on his next start. None of the other six with previous race experience appear to have anywhere near his ability, so if he is to be beaten, it will likely be by one of the unraced runners. Tiberius Thunder could be the one to pose a threat on debut. The Night of Thunder colt cost 220,000gns. It’s difficult to gauge his ability without having seen him run, but Waterford Flow’s track experience should give him the edge for now. 7.15 Dundalk - Seti The lucky last sees 14 runners go to post in this handicap over 1m2½f. Colin Keane was the winning-most jockey at Dundalk in 2024 with 24 victories and the champion jockey launched his 2025 assault with a treble on Wednesday’s card here. Keane has a strong chance of adding another here with SETI for trainer Noel Meade. The Raven’s Pass gelding won over seven furlongs as a maiden but has yet to score over this trip. However, he ran a respectable race over this course and distance last time out and now competes off a 2lb lower mark, boosting his chances. He is typically ridden prominently, a tactic that often proves effective at Dundalk, where even in longer-distance races, front-running horses tend to perform well.
