Toes wins at Pontefract for Fahey Veteran Irish raider Point The Toes made the long journey pay off when defying her advancing years to land the Pontefract Marathon Handicap. Given a typically patient ride by Jamie Spencer, the 10-year-old effortlessly travelled into the lead past the heavily-driven Stickleback shortly after rounding the home turn in the extended two-mile-five-furlong contest. Although idling in front, the Mark Fahey-trained 10-1 shot had enough in hand to hold off Stickleback by a length and a half. Spencer said: "She travelled really well and give me a peach of a ride around which was good as they can be flat out in this from a mile and a half out. "She is not the biggest but is very genuine and has got a big heart and tries hard."
