Top-class agenda outlined for Now Or Never

Michael O'Callaghan has big plans for Now Or Never after the filly ran out an impressive winner of the Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The Curragh handler is looking forward to running the daughter of Bushranger in the Tattersalls 1,000 Guineas at his local track on May 21.

After she has taken her chance in the fillies' Classic, he will look at the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and then the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown in September.

"She is so laid back and doesn't show you much at home. She hasn't fully come in her coat and I expect her to improve again. She is a big filly with lots of scope," said O'Callaghan, speaking at the launch of the 2016 Irish Flat Racing Season.

"She has the Guineas ahead of her and possibly the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, but if I had to pick a race that is made for her, it would be the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Longines Irish Champions Weekend."

Jim Bolger expects Turret Rocks to strip much fitter at the Curragh than in the English Guineas at Newmarket, where she was sixth to Minding.

"I probably left her a little short for Newmarket and there is more to come from her," said the Coolcullen handler.

Dermot Weld reports Tanaza to be highly unlikely to take her chance in the Irish 1,000 and could step her up in distance.

The Dubawi filly defeated Newmarket heroine Minding on her racecourse debut at Leopardstown last June but ended her juvenile campaign when fourth to the Aidan O'Brien-trained filly in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

"Tanaza is doubtful for the Irish 1,000 Guineas and if she doesn't go for that, we might keep her for a mile-and-a-quarter race and look at something like the Pretty Polly Stakes on Derby weekend," said the Curragh trainer.
