Tote Trifecta gaining momentum

Last week Tote Ireland announced changes to the Trifecta bet and already those alterations have seen a dramatic up-surge in the pool size.

Yesterday's Race 6 Rollover was over €14,000 and the pool at Gowran Park swelled to almost €30,000 by the off, the biggest Trifecta pool of 2013. Anyone lucky enough to forecast the correct result was rewarded with a dividend of €1,477.

Noel Hayes, Commercial Director of Tote Ireland, said: "We wanted to breathe new life into the Trifecta and so far the changes have had a positive effect. The Super Trifecta pools on Sundays will hopefully average between €8,000 and €10,000, obviously depending on results and depth of fixtures during the week."

"We will not attempt to hang our hat on just one week, but we are encouraged by the initial response."

The Trifecta now has a minimum unit stake of 10c (dividend declared to €1) and is available on all races with 3 or more runners.

When a Trifecta is not won 50% goes to the next Race 6 and 50% to the Super Trifecta on Race 6 on Sunday. All Race 6 Rollovers go to Race 6 on Sunday.

To win or share in the Trifecta pool you need to predict the first three horses home in a race in the correct order.
