Touzaine eyeing staying prizes this season Liz Doyle is eyeing more big staying prizes with Scottish National third Flash De Touzaine this season. The Kapgarde gelding ran on to finish in the placings behind Kitty's Light in the Ayr showpiece last April despite going to post a 40/1 shot. He holds an entry in the Ladbrokes Munster National at Limerick next weekend and Doyle is waiting to see if the eight-year-old makes the cut. The Wexford handler said:- “He’s in the Munster National but I’m not sure if he’ll get a run. “I discovered last year that he didn’t finish out in the Thyestes and the Troytown on that real heavy ground — he just didn’t get home. “His form in bumpers and hurdles was on nice ground so that’s why we went for the Scottish National and he flew home — they just didn’t go quick enough. “He wants nice ground and anything up to four miles.” Doyle also had news of Ballybawn Belter, a winner for the yard at the Dublin Racing Festival last February. The Valirann mare landed the Paddy Mullins Mares Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown and has won twice since, most recently at Ballinrobe last month. “She’s a narrow, skinny thing and I like to space her races out. She might go to Naas for the Brown Lad, a two and a half mile handicap early in November. “She’s progressed and we’ve dipped our toe at different trips with her. “We’ve freshened her up since she won at Ballinrobe and she’s in great form.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
